Seiser Alm – Dolomites

If I could go to the mountains on every vacation, I probably would. That being said, I love exploring cities and culture, so it can’t be the case every time 🙂

It was time for our annual family vaca. Destination: the Dolomites. But first, we started off in Munich:

Then headed to the mountains. Can I please go back already? Whoever wants to hike a hut-to-hut next year let me know.

Hike 1 [Puflatsch Bullaccia / Seiser Almi Alpe di Siusi area]
From hotel (Compatsch) — hiked to Arnika → Hexenbänke Panche delle streghe → Pilln Krunz (another cross) → Dibaita Puflatschütte (we missed the hut by 10 min) → hotel.  5.25 miles. 1,053 ft elevation gain. 2 hr 14 min.

Hike 2 [Val Gardena area]
Drive / bus to Ortesei. (we parked at Val Gardena hotel since sister hotel to Alpina Dolomites but if you don’t have a car you can take a bus). Near Adler hotel there’s a tram to Seceda → hiked to St Christina.  6.72 miles. 542 ft elevation gain. 3 hr 3 min.

Hike 3 [Tschapit area]
Bus from Compatsch to Saltria. Tram to Baita Williams Hütte (I’d likely do that again to avoid the long 3 mile trek upward with little scenery and lots of sun). Hike up to Plattkofelhutte Rifugio Sasso Piatto → hiked across the long pass then down to Mahlknechhutte Rifugio Molignon → Almrosenhutte saita Rosa Alpina →  Goldknopf Punta d’pro →  Compatsch. 9.26 miles. 1,528 ft elevation gain. 3 hrs 56 min.

Hike 4 [Piz area]
Hiked from Alpina Dolomites to Adler Hotel ALPE. 6.5 miles. 624 ft elevation gain. 2 hrs 36 min but walking slow on way back.

Some running pics plus a church (not on a run):
